Wiscasset

Route 1 041

What does Wiscasset bring to mind?  You could say the prettiest little village in Maine as their sign proclaims when you drive into town.  Or, you could say waiting.  Many of us who aren’t from there associate the gorgeous waterfront town with idling engines from bottlenecked traffic.  Why not enjoy your wait behind the doors of one of the main street’s gems?  It’s like discovering a treasure in the most unexpected place but also the most obvious.  Most of us have a love-hate relationship with Wiscasset.  We love the beauty and hate the wait.  Step out of your car and enjoy the beauty while you wait.   Besides, this time of year, there’s no wait at all.

Treat yourself to a big surprise and stop at this storefront for everything from freshly baked cookies to hand carved wooden spoons.  You might plan on popping in but there’s so much to see (and smell) – grab a cup of coffee and look around.

So next time you drive through Wiscasset – whether it’s your first time or your one hundredth – let go of your tight grip on your steering wheel and your possible attitude from traffic.  Get out and see the treasure that’s been right in front of your eyes all this time.
